Functions of control cabin
Control cabin is a centralized control station.
It is used to monitor and control the functions of different components of coiled tubing unit.
After performing the Rig-up following functions are performed from the control cabin.
*CT RIH
*CT POOH
*CT Reel Operation
*Stripper Operation
*BOP Operation
Instruments and Controls
Different types of gauges, controls and data acquisition systems are installed in control cabin.
Classifications of Instruments and Controls
For successful execution of coiled tubing job, efficient monitoring of operation parameters is crucial.
Classification of instruments and controls
*Primary instruments and control
*Secondary instruments and control
*Support instruments and control
Primary Instruments and Control
These gauges are of prime importance with respect to real time job monitoring.
These are the parameters by which CT operator observe what is happening downhole.
These parameters are changing quickly during a job, so their continuous monitoring is required.
These parameters include:
*Weight indicator gauge
*Circulation pressure (CP)
*Well head pressure (WHP)
Secondary Instruments and Control
These parameters are related to CT operation.
CT operator adjusts these parameters to make sure that coiled tubing unit runs smoothly.
These paramters do not change rapidly and are given secondary importance. It is recommended to observe these parameters after 2-3 minutes.
These parameters include
*CT depth/speed
*Chain tension or traction pressure
Support Instruments and Control
Following parameters usually remain stable for enough time and thus are given tertiary importance.
It is recommended to observe these parameters after each 4-5 minutes.
*Injector or Reel pressure
*BOP pressure
*Engine RPM
*Air pressure etc
*Hydraulic pumps pressure
