Preparation of Coiled Tubing Logging Plug

Find a good straight section of CT and cut.

File end to create a good Lead-in, ensure ends are smooth.

Apply suitable lubricant to the CT.

Remove coil seal assembly from base plug, fit coil seal assembly to CT.

Due to the tight fit of the seals over the CT, it may not be possible to slide on as a complete unit by hand. Often the only way is by breaking apart the individual components and sliding on seals and parts one by one, then making back tight when on CT using a strap wrench.

Fit wiper assembly

Fit roll-on connector & sleeve. Crimp on roll-on connector. FIt bottom crossover & crossover for pull test as per operator procedure. Carry our pull test. Once completed, remove bottom crossover.

Fit base plug to CT and make up to the coil seal assembly. Press in the 3 release fingers to help. Make up thread by hand first. Then use suitable spanners to make tight.

Make up bottom crossover to the sleeve. Nip up bottom crossover with suitable spanner. Slide plug back down to shoulder against bottom crossover. Ensure CT plug is locked against sleeve by pulling plug.

Check location of collets and release fingers. Fit the 1st shear screw. And the 2nd shear screw. Once the screws are tight, back off just a fraction (makes for easier redressing) but be careful not to back screw off too much.

The CT plug is now complete and fitted. Continue making up the logging tools. Take extreme care to centralise when the plug enters/exists the risers.
