The Installation of A Downhole or Velocity String Using Coiled Tubing

The operation involves running a small-diameter tubing string inside the production tubing to improve well performance, particularly in gas wells experiencing liquid loading.
The installation process typically consists of the following stages:

  1. #Preparation
    • Review the operational program.
-Inspect all equipment, including the Coiled Tubing unit, BOP, Stripper, SDDT, and running tools.
-Perform pressure testing on the pressure control equipment (PCE).
  2. #String_Assembly

Assemble the DWS or Velocity String with the required running equipment, such as:
– Running Tool
-SDDT (Self-Disconnect Tool)
– Centralizers or guiding tools if required

  1. #Running_the_String_into_the_Well:

Run the string into the well using the Coiled Tubing unit to the planned depth.
Continuously monitor weight, pressure, and running depth throughout the operation.

  1. #Setting_the_String
    • Set the DWS at the designated depth using an Anchor or Landing Nipple at level of assigned flange spole, depending on the completion design.
    • Verify that the string is securely landed and properly positioned and releasing the weight gradually with control weight reading.
  2. #Releasing_the_Running_Tool
    • Activate the SDDT to disconnect the running assembly from the DWS.
    • Retrieve the Coiled Tubing while leaving the DWS installed in the well.
  3. #Final_Verification
    • Confirm that the installation has been completed successfully.
  • Pressure tested of whole installation to repair any leak before resume production.
    • Dropping the ball inside installed string to open the tool.
    • Gradually return the well to production while monitoring well pressure and production performance.
