Drilling Operations

  1. Site Preparation
    Survey location
    Level and clear the site
Build access roads and well pad
  2. Rig Mobilization
    Transport drilling rig and equipment
Rig up (assemble) all components on site
  3. Spudding the Well
Start drilling the surface hole using a conductor or spud bit
  4. Surface Hole Drilling
    Drill to predetermined depth
Run and cement surface casing for well control and formation protection
  5. Blowout Preventer (BOP) Installation
Install BOP stack and test it for pressure control
  6. Intermediate Hole Drilling (if required)
Drill deeper to isolate troublesome formations
    Run and cement intermediate casing
  7. Drilling to Total Depth (TD)
Drill the main hole section to the target depth
Perform Logging While Drilling (LWD) / Measurement While Drilling (MWD)
  8. Well Logging and Evaluation
Run wireline logs to evaluate formations
    Confirm hydrocarbon presence
  9. Casing and Cementing
    Run production casing or liner
Cement in place to isolate zones
  10. Well Completetion or Suspension
If economic: complete the well (perforation, tubing, packers)
If not: suspend or abandon according to regulations
  11. Rig Demobilization
    Remove rig and equipment
    Restore site if required
  12. Production Start (if completed)
    Well is connected to facilities
    Begin flow testing or production
