Pipe Buckled After String Drop

Damage only noticed at surface.

At the time of the incident, the drill string was positioned at approximately 5,000 ft while the total depth of the well was 11,000 ft. The string was unintentionally dropped, and the unsupported weight of the pipe above generated excessive compressive forces, leading to buckling of the drill string. During subsequent pulling operations, no abnormal drag or resistance was observed, and the string was retrieved without difficulty. No immediate indication of damage was detected during operations, and the issue was only identified later upon surface inspection. This suggests that the buckling occurred downhole and was not apparent during normal pulling conditions.
